Houston Work Area: Work events within a 20-mile radius of our office at 717 Texas Ave Suite 1200, including Downtown Houston, Midtown, Montrose, The Heights, River Oaks, and major venues like the George R. Brown Convention Center and private event spaces.
Flexible Scheduling: Use our internal app to choose shifts that fit your schedule, whether part-time, full-time, weekends, or on-demand event work.
Earn Tips: In addition to hourly pay, event servers may receive cash tips depending on the event and client.
About the Role
As an event server with NYE Staffing, you will be responsible for providing high-quality food and beverage service while supporting event operations. You will work in a variety of environments including corporate functions, weddings, and private events, helping create smooth and professional guest experiences.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working as an event server or in hospitality environments such as banquets, catering, restaurants, or private events, with hands-on involvement in guest service and event operations.
- Must be certified in responsible alcohol service following Texas (TABC) guidelines.
- Strong understanding of food and beverage service standards, including proper serving techniques, table service etiquette, tray handling, and the ability to maintain clean and organized service areas throughout the entire event.
- Physically capable of lifting, carrying, and moving items weighing over 25 lbs, including trays, equipment, and event materials during setup, active service, and breakdown.
- Professional appearance and excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact confidently, respectfully, and clearly with guests, clients, and team members in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure, stay organized during high-volume service, and adapt quickly to last-minute changes while maintaining a positive, professional attitude.
- High school diploma or equivalent required, such as a GED or international equivalent.
Responsibilities
- Prepare event spaces by organizing tables, chairs, linens, and service setups according to each event’s layout and requirements.
- Deliver food and beverage service to guests with efficiency, professionalism, and attention to detail throughout the event.
- Coordinate pre-event readiness by gathering supplies, arranging service stations, and ensuring everything is properly set before guests arrive.
- Keep all service areas clean, presentable, and well-maintained during the entire event to reflect high hospitality standards.
- Attend to guest needs in a timely manner, offering assistance and handling concerns to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience.
- Manage table turnover by clearing used items and resetting spaces quickly to maintain service flow.
- Participate in both setup and post-event breakdown, including handling equipment and restoring the venue to its original condition.
- Comply with all health, safety, and food service regulations required by the venue and event standards.
- Work closely with team leads and other staff members to keep operations organized and running efficiently.
- Stay flexible and ready to assist in different areas as needed based on the pace and demands of each event.
