Job Description

Event servers support live hospitality service in fast-moving environments. Each shift may look different depending on the client, venue, guest count, and service style. Some events require plated dinner service. Others may involve buffet support, passed appetizers, reception-style service, beverage assistance, or general event support.

Before guests arrive, servers help prepare the space. This can include setting tables, organizing service stations, placing linens, arranging event materials, and making sure the service area is ready. During the event, servers help keep the experience smooth by serving food and beverages, clearing tables, responding to guest needs, and keeping work areas clean.

NYE Staffing supports events throughout San Diego County, including Downtown venues near the Convention Center, Gaslamp Quarter event spaces, Mission Valley hotels, La Jolla coastal properties, Del Mar venues, North County locations, universities, private homes, and corporate campuses.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Strong guest service skills and a professional attitude.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Comfort working in busy, fast-paced event environments.
• Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and special event dates.
• Reliable transportation to assignments throughout San Diego County.
• Professional service attire required, typically black uniform and non-slip shoes.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, usually 6 to 10 hours.
• Ability to lift and carry trays or service items up to approximately 25 lbs.
• Ability to bend, reach, move quickly, and stay alert during active service.
• Previous hospitality, catering, banquet, restaurant, or event experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional food and beverage service during events.
• Follow event-specific service instructions, including plated service, buffet service, passed appetizers, and reception-style formats.
• Assist with event setup, service execution, and breakdown.
• Set tables, arrange service stations, and support venue preparation before guests arrive.
• Clear plates, glassware, trash, and service areas during and after the event.
• Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas throughout the shift.
• Communicate clearly with captains, chefs, event managers, planners, and teammates.
• Adapt quickly when timelines, layouts, guest flow, or service needs change.
• Represent NYE Staffing with professionalism, reliability, and strong guest awareness.
• Follow company standards, safety procedures, sanitation guidelines, and uniform requirements.
