Wedding Servers Duties
- Set up tables, linens, chafing dishes, place settings, and buffet areas.
- Help arrange and move items for the event.
- Serve and refill drinks for guests.
- Restock food at buffet stations and serve guests from them.
- Pass hors d’oeuvres or cocktails.
- Deliver plated meals, whether pre-ordered or by taking guest orders.
- Clear tables and clean the event area.
- Break down tables, buffet setups, and food stations after the event.
- Take out trash to leave the venue clean and tidy.
Wedding Servers Does Not:
- Sweep, vacuum, and mop the event space to keep it clean.
- Assist with setting up or taking down tents.
- Help organize the event layout or schedule.
- Mix and serve cocktails for your guests.
- Assist with food preparation or cooking as needed.
- Wash dishes (if the additional service fee is included).
Staffing Tips for Your Wedding
If your event uses china or glassware, plan for one busser for every two tables. For plasticware, one busser can handle up to three tables.
For every 50 guests, you’ll need one (1) bartender. If there are 70 guests, it’s best to have one bartender and one bar back to keep things running smoothly.
If your event needs 5 or more staff, having an event captain is essential. They help coordinate the team and make sure everything runs smoothly.
For family style service, plan for one staff member per table with up to 12 seats. This ensures smooth and attentive service.
